Dear future umpires,
My name is Alex Costello. I on WHC’s behalf attended a Leinster hockey pilot programme to improve the standard of umpiring club wide. The aim of this course is to improve umpires confidence and skills on the pitch to deliver a more professional and presentable game. You will learn all about the different rules, hand signals and umpire positioning all of which are key to getting all your calls correct!
Upon completing this course you will receive a whistle and a set of cards so you can embark on your journey as an umpire, we will run through many different scenarios on-screen and discuss/debate what we think the correct calls are in certain areas will follow. We will also be looking at examples of good umpiring positions and examples of what not to do.
In full if you’re eager to get into umpiring, this course is a perfect introduction to it and it will also give advice on your progression and what to do next.
If you are interested in umpiring this IHA and IHUA run course is a great way to start
Hope to see you there or even better on the hockey pitch! Register Here
